It is very important to us here at LLA that our students experience the different parts of the building throughout the day. We feel this way for a number of reasons:
+ Transitions can be difficult for many young children; switching spaces allows children to develop better transitional skills, which are important when they eventually move into the school-aged years.
+ Spending all day in one classroom not only brings on monotony with kids, but it also fails to teach them how to respect new spaces. By bringing our students to the various specials rooms, we can help the kids learn how to respect the space and belongings of a different classroom.
+ In addition to teaching our students how to walk together in a line, we also want our students to learn how to walk past other classrooms respectfully and without causing disruptions to other learning environments.
