About This Classroom

The Forest Room is designed for children ages 30 months to fully potty trained who are growing in independence and creates stepping stones to help ease the transition from a toddler room to a preschool environment in the months to come. In this classroom, we nurture developing minds and hearts while helping children build confidence and responsibility with basic day-to-day tasks and foundational academic skills.

Curriculum

Our Pond Room uses BJU Pathways for Preschool, as well as incorporating a daily circle time, art, music, and Bible classes.

Daily Routine

A typical day in the Forest consists of a flexible, yet dependable, schedule that provides structure while allowing time for exploration and play. Click here for a glimpse into a typical daily schedule for our Jungle students.

Potty and Diapering

Children are not required to be potty trained prior to entering the Forest Room; however, potty training will be encouraged and supported during their time in this classroom. Children will use the daycare restrooms for both potty and diapering needs.

If your child is not yet potty trained, please provide labeled packages of diapers or pull-ups and wipes.

Nap Time

Children rest on individual cots during nap time. Shoes are removed, and children are expected to lie quietly on their cot. They should be able to self-soothe and fall asleep independently or remain resting quietly until nap time concludes.

Meals

Families provide three meals daily (morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack), ensuring children have familiar and appropriate foods as they continue transitioning to solids. We ask that all foods sent in are meals that you know your child will eat; any new foods should be introduced at home in order to avoid allergic reactions from happening at school or disinterest from the child. Please be sure to have your child’s food containers and packaging clearly labeled with his/her first and last name.
