Here at LLA, it’s very important to us that our students experience different spaces within our facility throughout the day. We feel this is crucial for a number of reasons:
+ Transitions can be difficult for many young children just starting off; building in routine room changes throughout the day allows children to develop better transitional skills, which are important when they eventually move into the pre-school and school-aged years. Allowing them to transition to a new room, especially when it is for something fun like a specials class, helps them see the transitions as something exciting and not to be feared.
+ Spending all day in one classroom not only brings on monotony with children, but it also fails to teach them how to respect new spaces. By bringing our students to the various specials rooms, our outdoor playground, and the restroom for those in our older classes, we can help the kids learn how to respect the expectations and belongings of each new classroom or space.
+ In addition to teaching our students how to walk together in a line, we also want our students to learn how to walk past other classrooms respectfully and without causing disruptions to other learning environments. This is especially helpful as they enter into their school-aged years when transitions are much more frequent.
CReative Corner
A WORD FROM MRS. KELLY:
I am thrilled to introduce a brand new monthly adventure for our students…the Creative Corner class! This special class gives children a chance to step into a world of imagination, exploration, and hands-on fun. Every child expresses creativity in his/her own way, and the Creative Corner celebrates that!
During this monthly class, children will have the opportunity to:
+ dive into puzzles
+ paint colorful masterpieces
+ build towering block creations
+ design magnet art
+ explore fun, educational toys
+ shape and squish play-doh
+ craft something completely unique
No two Creative Corner days will ever look the same, and that’s exactly the magic I want them to feel. My goal is to give children a joyful space where they can relax, express themselves, and discover new interests. I can’t wait to be their teacher and see their bright ideas, bold colors, and AMAZING creations come to life each month!”

Kindermusik
A WORD FROM MRS. COLE:
“For those who don’t know what Kindermusik is, it’s a research based music program that combines music and movement to engage and promote learning in children. I’ve said many times that my classes are like PE and music combined in one. The children are constantly up on their feet engaging with the music and their classmates.
According to the Kindermusik research, ‘The combination of music and movement give the brain a complete workout, and research tells us the earlier we put all of our lobes to work at once the better. Kindermusik provides joyful, engaging activities to promote school readiness, lifelong learners, and a more confident kinder generation. It also uses visual, auditory, and kinesthetic elements for a multi-sensory approach.’
One thing I love about this program is that for every activity in the curriculum, it tells you what the benefits are for the children. For example, in just one lesson a child may be developing gross motor skills, fine motor skills, spatial awareness, balance & coordination, attentive listening skills, pretend play skills, memory & recall skills, auditory discrimination, eye-hand coordination, etc. Along with some musical learning such as developing a steady beat, developing singing skills, instrument awareness, etc. It really is an all encompassing program which is why I have been SO excited to bring it to LLA this year.”

Bible Class
A WORD FROM MRS. OLSEN:
“Each week in Bible, we have the privilege to learn about who God is, how wonderful it is that he loves us deeply, and that he made us to love others. We enjoy singing songs, reading Bible stories. and we have the most fun with crafts that help us to see—tangibly—how sweet God is. I get to apply the practical truth of the Bible to little preschool hearts and minds so that they can understand and know that there is a Savior in Heaven who loves them deeply, and made them for a purpose, on purpose.”
