Specials Rooms

It is very important to us here at LLA that our students experience the different parts of the building throughout the day. We feel this way for a number of reasons:

+ Transitions can be difficult for many young children; switching spaces allows children to develop better transitional skills, which are important when they eventually move into the school-aged years.

+ Spending all day in one classroom not only brings on monotony with kids, but it also fails to teach them how to respect new spaces. By bringing our students to the various specials rooms, we can help the kids learn how to respect the space and belongings of a different classroom.

+ In addition to teaching our students how to walk together in a line, we also want our students to learn how to walk past other classrooms respectfully and without causing disruptions to other learning environments.

music ROOM

At LLA, we believe that it is important for children to develop a passion for music at a young age! Our teacher, Mrs. Cole, teaches Kindermusik lessons to our students in the Jungle, Desert, Pond, and Ocean classes twice a week (Tuesdays & Wednesdays) and the students absolutely love it!

In addition to the Kindermusik curriculum which combines rhythm with movement, Mrs. Cole also works with the students to teach them special musical numbers for performances such as Christmas concerts, end of year performances, and music ministry opportunities within our church services.

RestROOMs

{For Children 2+ Years}

Once the children leave the infant rooms (Garden and Farm), they will begin using our main restrooms for all of their diapering and bathroom needs. Each class will take frequent, scheduled bathroom breaks as a group throughout the day, and extra trips can be taken individually as needed.

All bathroom visits are supervised by our teachers and/or their assistants, so no child will ever be left in a bathroom unattended. We work closely with the families to help get their toddlers potty trained once they are ready, and we also implement sticker charts as a way to positively encourage the children to become potty trained.

For those who are still in diapers or pull ups, we have shelving in the restrooms that hold baskets with each child’s name on them (not pictured for privacy purposes). Inside, we keep the child’s diapers, wipes, diaper rash cream, and spare clothing so that they are close by during changes. We will let you know via Brightwheel if your child is running low on diapers or wipes so that he/she does not run out while at school.

{As a side note: our restrooms also double as our tornado shelters should we ever experience severe weather during hours of operation.}
