About This Classroom
Our Farm Room is thoughtfully designed for children ages 8–12 months who are reaching exciting developmental milestones, such as crawling, adapting to more structured schedules, and transitioning to solid foods. This transitional classroom helps prepare your child for the more structured learning environments they will experience in the years ahead. We strive to create a nurturing and engaging space that encourages growing independence while continuing to provide the comfort, security, and attentive care your child needs.

Development & Curriculum
Children are encouraged to explore their surroundings, practice mobility skills like crawling, and engage in hands-on learning experiences that support early problem-solving and communication development through the use of books and flash cards.
In order for a child to advance to the Arctic Room, he/she must be able to meet the following milestones:
Sleep on a cot
Fall asleep without being rocked or held
Eat at a table rather than in a high chair; must also be able to stay put at the table without getting up or walking around
Respect the food of other children and not grab off of other plates
Drink from a sippy cup; bottles are not given to this age group and milk will not be warmed up
Daily Routine
Our consistent daily routine helps children feel safe and secure while allowing flexibility to meet individual needs. Included throughout the day is free play, routine diaper checks, meal times, book reading, circle time, naptime time, and Late Stay for those who require care beyond the end of our school day.
Diapering Procedure
Children are changed every two hours or sooner if needed. Diapers are checked frequently throughout the day to ensure comfort, cleanliness, and health. Please be sure to label your child’s packages of diapers and wipes, as well as any diaper rash cream containers that you may send in. Additionally, a medication form will need to be completed before diaper rash cream can be applied.
Napping Procedure
Students will have cribs provided to them for their nap times. Our goal is to gradually help children become more independent sleepers, preparing them for transitioning to cots in the Arctic Room.
Meal Schedule
8:30 AM - Morning Snack
11:30 AM - Lunch
2:15 PM - Afternoon Snack
Families provide three meals daily (morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack), ensuring children have familiar and appropriate foods as they continue transitioning to solids. We ask that all foods sent in are meals that you know your child will eat; any new foods should be introduced at home in order to avoid allergic reactions from happening at school or disinterest from the child. Please be sure to have your child’s food containers and packaging clearly labeled with his/her first and last name.
