ABOUT THIS CLASSROOM
Our Pre-K Classroom is designed for children ages 4–5 and focuses on preparing students for a successful transition into kindergarten. All children must be 4 years of age by September 1st, as set by state guidelines. We provide a structured yet nurturing environment where children grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually through purposeful learning and play. CURRICULUM
Our Pond Room uses BJU Footsteps for Fours, a comprehensive early learning curriculum that builds foundational skills in many different areas of learning.
Through engaging lessons, hands-on activities, and interactive learning experiences, students are encouraged to explore, ask questions, and develop confidence as independent learners.
DAILY ROUTINE
Our consistent daily schedule provides structure while allowing time for creativity and exploration. Click here for the full breakdown of the Ocean Room daily schedule.
BATHROOM PROCEDURES
Students need to be fully potty trained in order to attend our preschool programs as they will have scheduled bathroom breaks throughout the day. If a child needs to use the restroom outside of scheduled times, he or she is always permitted to do so. Your child must be able to communicate bathroom needs, be on a 2-hour schedule, use a regular sized toilet, be able to wipe himself/herself clean, and be able to pull bottoms off and on independently.
REST TIME
Students are encouraged—but not required—to sleep during rest time. Each child should remain on his or her cot quietly for the duration of nap time and avoid disturbing others. This quiet rest period allows children to recharge for the remainder of the day.
MEALS
Families provide three meals daily (morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack), ensuring children have familiar and appropriate foods as they continue transitioning to solids. We ask that all foods sent in are meals that you know your child will eat; any new foods should be introduced at home in order to avoid allergic reactions from happening at school or disinterest from the child. Please be sure to have your child’s food containers and packaging clearly labeled with his/her first and last name. Additionally, items should be specified as snack or lunch items so that staff knows what time of day to give an item to your child.
